The Beach Shack..

In this day and age we consider the dishwasher to be a necessity, at the very least two toilets are a must have and lets not forget the study, theatre room, parents retreat, games room and play area  - so it is wonderful to stumble on a home where neither a second toilet or dishwasher exist - this place is just well lovely, and lived in, and homey, and calm, and all about family. This is the home of stylist Jo-Anne Pabst and her family and they have chickens in the back yard...

The Croquembouche...

This is a proud mum moment  - Mr A has always been a keen cook - he makes dinner at least once a week and is a dab hand at whipping up a batch of muffins or cake..but this weekend we hit a whole new level  - it was amazing and in fact spectacular!!!  We hosted a birthday party for a friend - its was a bring a plate tapas affair  - 13 wonderful, fabulous girls who can all cook and like to eat and drink - you could not have asked for better day - it was sunny and we sat outside - but the pièce de résistance was the croquembouche... I was  blown away at that creation - profiteroles made from scratch, his first ever attempt creme patisserie and the toffee that was unbelievable - and this is the end result...yep very proud mum I am!!!

The Church House

When our kids were younger our friends lived in a renovated church - it was cool, wide living areas, huge high ceilings and the kids loved it- what was also good was when the grandparents asked the kids what they had been doing they proudly told them that we had been to the church (tick tick).  Pinteresting the other day I came across this cool church reno  -  I grew up living in a rectory, my dad is an man of the cloth so perhaps there is some sort of strange pull towards church renos and especially this one given it was  Anglican church I grew up in. Let's hope the heating is good as my memories are of a freezing cold church in winter!!
