House update

We are in and settled but still have heaps to do - unpack more boxes, painting, garden etc etc  -but that does not have to be done hear and now (though it would be sooo good to click your fingers and it was done..)  - we are staying put in this house for a few more years .. Christmas disappointment is that we did not have a pool ready   - in fact we are still waiting for that - I am hoping that perhaps the pool will be finished before the boys go back to school on  Feb 4th - this is the view from the kitchen/ dining /living ...

decking done - need the pool people to do their work so the gabion wall can be completed -the orange mesh is for  the gabion wall

Fencing will be glass

Pool side of the jarrah fence will have decking and hooks for towels etc

The deck - in progress - the temp clothes line as the access down the side of the house is needed  - clothes line will relocate once the pool people has done their work!!
Where the pile of dirt is will be lawn

Merry Christmas 2012

Merry Christmas to all.

I wish you heath and happiness and a day spent with loved ones.

My thoughts are also with those who this year will be without a loved one - especially those families in Newton who will no doubt have a great sense of loss - my thoughts are with you and your families as you struggle to cope with your loss.

Sesaons blessing to all.

Real estate stalking in ...South Yarra

I have always loved the juxtaposition of  modern and old - and one day would like to undertake a home renovation on a Fremantle workers cottage in which we retain the historical front of the house and then demolish the rear lean to and replace with modern lines- concert, black wood and stainless steel...this house is on a far larger scale than I would attempt.. list here while it lasts

Newtown, Connecticut.

Like probably most people around the world I woke up to face the shock and horror as I read about the shootings at a school in Newtown, Connecticut. It is tooo hard to make any sense of why  - we may never know and even if we do it will not make the loss of the 20 children and the 6 adults any easier for those left behind to cope.  Much is being said about America's gun laws - and I have a sense that perhaps more meaningful conversations may occur in the White House that focus on how the gun laws can be amended.  As a parent I cannot imagine the loss and like may parents around the world today I have taken more time than usual to hug my kids.

It is a cliché but lets hope that from this tragedy something positive will be done   - I don't get the American gun laws. But it is a strange concept to me that you can walk into a Walmart purchase your weekly groceries and a fire arm as well!!!

The House

Well at last we are in!!  It is great and when we finally get organised and the deck and pool are done it will be fantastic!!  I was very very disorganised for the move and then to top is all off I badly sprained my ankle  (tripping on a honkey nut!!) so was not much help in the move !!

A few pics- nothing flash  - I love the floors they are just devine - they really make the house..(pic taken on the iPhone so not great)

Real estate stalking...in Albert Park

Today we are in Albert Park - close to Melbourne city, and also St Kilda, there is the once year car rumble that would affect the peace and serenity but alas small price to pay - we would also need to ditch the kids (or they share a bedroom) - this place has a little Persian feel to it...listed here while it lasts

Real Estate stalling ... in Queenscliffe

My nan lived in Portarlington for along time and it was a given that when we visited we would "do" the  "Great Ocean Road"  each time - not always the whole length but various stages and places - one of my favourite places to visit was Queenscliffe (yes technically not the GOR as that really starts in Torquay but I lump it all together).  Queenscliffe is where you take to the ferry to Sorrento (which is on the Mornington  Peninsula.) SO where would I live if I moved to Queenscliff -  this place looks good for me...(here while listing lasts)
