Long way down

Okay I should have some preamble about the fact I have not blogged for such a long time until recently but you know I think that I am a spasmodic blogger - life just gets in the way  - school work kids husband friends etc - and I don't meaning "in the way" as a negative but we just live life and so I get consumed with other stuff.  Mu point is I have no excuses for my spasmodic blogging and I have decided that this year I shall try to blog when I can  - which will be this amount - how long is a price of string??

So...Our new house has a hallway that is 23 meters long - at the widest it will be over 2.5 meters wide!!! So it is a whopping hallway and the kids are looking forward to skidding down with socks on!!  The hallway is on the western side of the block - so it will bear the brunt of the arvo sun - but we have the windows at varying heights to have maximum light without hopefully having the hot hot summer sun - and with a 31 course ceiling there is height so we can add fans!!   So the space will be light and long!! But how do you decorate such a massive space ..

We have begun

OMG - this is exciting - today, yes today, the pool shell will be dug - this is so so exciting - it means that we have finally begun the process of building!!!  We still have a long way to go and it will seem like a lifetime to wait but at least we have movement and we are going forward!!!

Our pool will be similar with the wall up against  the pool!!

Have a great weekend!

Red kitchen's

Okay I am Boring - yes with the capital B - we have now chosen all the colours for our home - in terms of kitchen and bathroom etc - and I have gone safe -white kitchen(what else would I have chosen) and white cabinets in the bathrooms - with a dark grey floor.

But I did contemplate going wild and having a red kitchen - large amounts or red like all the splashbacks, or cabinets etc but I am not so brave - it was very tempting but then I had that practical voice saying - what if you tire of this it is a huge cost to replace, would it lessen your chances of sale, will it date etc etc - but if I were brave enough and could fight against the voice .....

It's on SALE

I love love love a bargain  - there is something exhilarating about finding a bargain -  even if you don't need the item there is still a buzz when you had over the cash!!!

So my latest bargain is very exciting -as you know we are building a house  - yes plans all approved and we should see some work start in the next week -the pool goes in then the house goes up - the budget for all this is tight!  So the boys and I are out and about when I saw the sign that draws us all in - SALE!!  Swinging across two lanes of traffic we head to Freedom  - but this was not any old sale  - this was an end of lease SALE SALE.

Everything was heavily discounted - and I have to say thatI was like a kid in a lolly shop - the loot I bought at full price was around $1900, at the Freedom normal sale is would have cost me $1300 but a the end of lease  sale it all costs $125!!!!  Yep you read it right - $125 - now despite the fact that my love and I had not even talked about light fittings for the house I figured that it he hated my choices we could always sell on eBay and make our money back - but this was a buy now or regret moment!!

Bale Pendant  - $199  - sale $10!!! - main bedroom

again a $10 bargain for the kids rooms

Industrial Pendant $349 Sale  $25 - bought two for above the kitchen table

Orbit Pendant $399 Sale $25 - hanging about the kitchen island bench!!

I am pleased to say that my one true love likes the lights - he was not as sold on the yellow bale pendant for our room but I think that a little subtle colour is good!!

So now we have the problem of storing all this loot of the next 7-8 months!!

Yes it is a gnome - he has pride of place on the hall table!!
Oh and we also collected a new household member - Mr Joe - at half price he was a bargain and Mr Little was so so excited to bring him home!
